[:en]Aiming to seek more involvement of faithfuls in subjects related to parish life, the Church in Brazil promotes, from 26 November this year to 25 November 2018, the Year of the Laity. Based on the theme “Lay Christians, subject to Church in the service of the Kingdom”, parishes throughout the country will reinforce, during this period, the importance of  God’s word for the transformation of society and the decisive role of the faithful in this context.

Laypeople are all the people who entered in God’s life through Baptism, except ordained ministers, bishops, priests and deacons. They are the protagonists of the Year of the Laity. According to the auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Goiânia, Dom Moacir Arantes, by proclaiming a year dedicated to them, the Church aims to reflect on the lay vocation and provide conditions of a formation that allows them to live their mission of baptized in and out of the Church, through the various services and professions they practice.

“The expectation is that the laity recognizes and takes on its mission. That they not be a passive subject within the church, but an agent of evangelization so that, together with the community, can contribute to the growth of the Kingdom of God. It is time to share the presence of Jesus Christ,” claimed Dom Moacir Arantes.

As a way of discussing the relevance of the layman within the church, the National Conference of the Bishops of Brazil (CNBB) approved the Document 105, addressing the challenges faced and the prospects of his mission. “Through this, the layman can understand that he is not simply in the church, but that he is the church. It is an integral part and living stone of Jesus Christ’s Church. From that, you must ask yourself what the Lord expects from you and how you will help in the construction of the kingdom, ” he explained.

Engagement

As Dom Moacir Arantes pointed out, during the Year of the Laity, the faithfuls can take the presence of Christ in several ways. For example, Neli Martins Rodrigues is an Eucharist Minister in the Sanctuary Basilica Our Lady of Perpetual Help, in Goiânia (GO), and acknowledges how valuable her engagement in the ecclesial environment is.

The extraordinary Ministry of Holy Communion, which has its members ministers of the Eucharist, was instituted by Pope Paul VI, after the Second Vatican Council. It is a ministry of great importance, because they are laypeople with the task of delivering the Body of Christ. Neli has been in the function for over 30 years. She takes the communion to other brothers, in the church, and also to the devotees who are ill and cannot be in the celebrations.

According to her, the activity requires preparation and the heart must dedicated to the Father: “As soon as we arrive at church, we seek internalize, prepare the spirit to enter a climate of prayer and participate in the Eucharist until the time of the distribution of communion. We have a commitment to responsibility. I always seek to fulfill the tasks I am in charge, both at the church and the ills I seek to attend. In this function, I feel extremely accomplished. ”

Neli believes that the Year of the Laity will serve to strengthen her faith and make her even more involved. “It will be a period of reflection for all of us, lay people. Time to become aware of our mission, broaden knowledge and evolve in every sense. That goes beyond merely participating in the masses. It is propagating the immense love of the Eternal Father wherever we go, always seeking the improvement of our society,” she said.

Example

As well as Neli, the teacher Leonice Ribeiro also enthusiastically sees the arrival of the Year of the Laity. She expects this celebration to raise the faithfuls and make them closer to God. She is the coordinator of the Family Ministry of the Parish of the Divine Eternal Father, the Matrix Church of Trinity (GO), and plays an important role with the families of the municipality, assisting them spiritually, besides accompanying and promoting couples encounters.

Her mother, who always took her to the masses, was an example thus she decided to participate actively in the activities of the Church. “My husband and I were still engaged at the time we joined the community. The desire to be more present has been increasing, and today it is gratifying to be part of the ministries. It is a way of strengthening our devotion to the Divine Eternal Father, ” she affirmed.

To celebrate the year of the laity, Leonice aims to attract even more couples to the meetings promoted by the family  ministry and encourage the participation of families in parish life.  “Let’s make the members more active. The goal is to take God’s word to the life of each onde and show how much our lives are changed with His presence, ” claimed the coordinator.

Dom Moacir Arantes emphasizes the relevance of the engagement of Neli e Leonice and concludes advising all laypeople: “Enjoy this year devoted to you to think, reflect, deepen your identity and mission, in the Church and in the world, as a living member of God’s people. Those who do not know themselves, who do not know their mission, waste their time and does not have an action that can be harnessed. You can transform the world into a place of justice and peace, where everyone live with dignity. ”

 [:es]Con el objetivo de buscar un mayor compromiso de los hermanos en asuntos relacionados con la vida parroquial, la iglesia en Brasil promueve desde el 26 de noviembre de este año hasta el 25 de noviembre de 2018, el Año del Laicado. Pautada por el tema “Cristianos laicos y laicas, sujetos en la iglesia en salida, al servicio del Reino”, las parroquias de todo el país reforzarán en este período, la importancia de la palabra de Dios para la transformación de la sociedad y el papel decisivo de los fieles en este contexto.

Los laicos son toda la gente que entró en la vida de Dios a través del bautismo, excepción hecha a ministros ordenados, obispos, sacerdotes y diáconos. Son ellos los protagonistas del Año del Laicado. Según el obispo auxiliar de la Arquidiócesis de Goiânia Dom Moacir Arantes, al proclamar un año destinado a ellos, la iglesia pretende reflexionar sobre la vocación laical y dar condiciones de una formación que les permita vivir su misión de bautizados dentro y fuera de la iglesia, a través de los diversos servicios y profesiones que practican.

“La expectativa es que el laicado reconozca y asuma su misión. Que no sea un sujeto pasivo dentro de la iglesia, sino un agente de la evangelización para que, junto con la comunidad, puedan contribuir al crecimiento del Reino de Dios. Es hora de compartir la presencia de Jesucristo”, destaca Dom Moacir Arantes.

Como una manera de discutir la relevancia del laico dentro de la iglesia, la Conferencia Nacional de los Obispos de Brasil (CNBB) aprobó el Documento 105, que aborda los desafíos enfrentados y las perspectivas de su misión. “Por medio de este, el laico puede entender que no está simplemente en la iglesia, sino que él es la iglesia. Es parte integrante y piedra viviente de la iglesia de Jesucristo. A partir de eso, es necesario preguntarse lo que el Señor espera de si mismo y de que forma ayudará en la construcción del Reino”, explica el religioso.

Compromiso

Según indico Dom Moacir Arantes, durante el Año del Laicado, los fieles pueden llevar la presencia de Cristo de varias maneras. Neli Martins Rodrigues, por ejemplo, es ministra de la Eucaristía en el Santuario Basílica Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro, en Goiânia (GO), y reconoce lo valioso que es su compromiso en el entorno eclesial.

El Ministerio Extraordinario de la Sagrada Comunión, que tiene entre sus miembros ministros de la Eucaristía, fue instituido por el Papa Pablo VI, después del Concilio Vaticano Segundo. Es un Ministerio de gran importancia, porque son laicos con la tarea de llevar el Cuerpo de Cristo. Neli ejerce la función por más de 30 años. Ella lleva la comunión a los hermanos en la iglesia, y también a los devotos que están enfermos y no pueden estar en las celebraciones.

Según ella, la actividad exige preparación y el corazón debe ser entregado al servicio del Padre: “Así como lleguemos a la iglesia, buscamos interiorizar, preparar el espíritu para entrar en un clima de oración y participar en la Eucaristía hasta el momento de la distribución de la comunión. Asumimos un compromiso con la responsabilidad. Siempre busco satisfacer las necesidades que se me proponen, tanto en la iglesia como a los enfermos a los que busco asistir. En esta función, me siento extraordinariamente realizada”.

Neli cree que el Año del Laicado servirá para fortalecer su fe y hacerla estar aún más involucrada. “Será un período de reflexión para todos nosotros, los laicos. Tiempo para estar conscientes de nuestra misión, ampliar el conocimiento y evolucionar en todos los sentidos. Esto va más allá de la mera participación de las misas. Es propagar el amor inmenso del Padre Eterno por donde pasamos, buscando el mejoramiento de nuestra sociedad”, dice.

 Ejemplo

Así como Neli, la profesora Leonice Ribeiro también ve con entusiasmo la llegada del Año del Laicado y espera que esta celebración engrandezca a los fieles y los haga más cercanos a Dios. Ella es coordinadora de la Pastoral Familiar de la Parroquia del Divino Padre Eterno, en la Iglesia Matriz de Trindade (GO), y desempeña un papel importante con las familias del municipio, ayudándoles espiritualmente, además de acompañar y promover encuentros de parejas.

Teniendo como ejemplo su madre, que siempre la llevaba a las misas, decidió participar activamente en las actividades de la iglesia. “Aún era novia cuando mi marido y yo nos integramos en la comunidad. El deseo de estar más presente ha ido en aumento, y hoy es gratificante ser parte de la Pastoral. Es una manera de fortalecer nuestra devoción al Divino Padre Eterno”, anota.

Para celebrar el Año del Laicado, Leonice pretende atraer aún más parejas a las reuniones promovidas por Pastoral e incentivar la participación de las familias en la vida parroquial. “Vamos a hacer que los miembros sean más activos. El objetivo es llevar la Palabra de Dios a la vida de cada uno y mostrar cuánto cambian nuestras vidas con su presencia”, resalta la coordinadora.

Dom Moacir Arantes enfatiza la relevancia del compromiso de Neli y Leonice, y concluye con un consejo a todos los laicos: “Disfrute de este año dedicado para pensar, reflexionar, profundizar en su identidad y misión, en la iglesia y en el mundo, como un miembro vivo del pueblo de Dios. Quien no se conoce, quien no conoce su misión, pierde su tiempo y no tienen una acción que pueda ser aprovechada. Tú puedes transformar el mundo en un lugar de justicia y paz, donde todos tengan una vida con dignidad”.
