The House of the Child and Adolescent – Talitha Kum is a women’s shelter that works in a space provided by the Redemptorists and has the support of the congregation and the Association of Children of the Eternal Father (Afipe). The direction and coordination are responsibility of the Passionist Sisters of St. Paul of the Cross, who took on the mission along with educators, laity and volunteers.
Founded in May 1998, the institution meets the aspirations of young people and adolescents found in the streets, at risk and vulnerable situations.
In the house there are activities that contribute to human and public growth and development and of the young ladies. Before going to live in the house, the religious and lay volunteers perform an in loco work in the streets.
The objective is to know, bond, keep up and lead the young ladies to detox, show the proposal of the institution and help them in the process. Thus, only those who willingly wish for a free change in life will be forwarded to the institution.
